When women are empowered to participate in their communities, they are able to challenge the attitudes and practices that propagate gender discrimination, share knowledge and workloads, support each other emotionally, save collectively and devise and sustain initiatives to improve child and maternal health. It is also see in the society that women and girls are considered as burden on the society and their involvement in the economic structure empowers them to speak up for their rights and makes them independent. Thus, to help the women and the girls belonging to the Marginalised communities, be it Muslim Community or Lower caste Hindu Community, in their development, we started the Livelihoods program. Under the same we carry out SHG Formations and Vocational Trainings.
Life Guard Centre (LGC): with the starting of the organisation we witnessed that Railway Stations work as an important transit point from where the victims of Modern Day Slavery are taken to long distance places. Thus we started LGC as a medium to break the chain of slavery and rescue the victims before atrocities are exercised on them. LGC works as a vigilant group at the stations and are observant of the mysterious elements that traffic the victims by luring them for the prospect of better future. It helps in the restoration of the smiles of the victims which is our reward. LGC program was started to remove the darkness, the anxiety from the lives of the victims and encourage them for a better and brighter future. Capacity Building with GRP, RPF, Police Officials and Labour Dept. The responsibility of the govt. machineries especially those related with the protection of the country increases. Thus, we try to capacitate the GRP, RPF, Police Officials, and others with the knowledge of Modern Day Slavery though Nukkad Nataks, Film Screenings, Meetings etc. Training enhances their knowledge on the same and further helps them in distinguishing the victims and the executor of the crime.
Modern Day Slavery in the recent times has emerged as a grave threat to the society. The indirect effect of globalisation on the marginalised and the vulnerable community can be seen on the economy, and the traffickers take advantage of the same. Modern Day Slavery or Human Trafficking has materialised as one of the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the modern times. The societal structures and the power relations present in the social order are such which make the developed more powerful and dominating on one hand and helpless and the vulnerable more so on the other. On the lowest pedestal of these lie the women and the children of the society.
