We Provide Education, Books Recreation (Hobbies, Sports/Games) With Love and Care... Hope and Confidence... Independence and Discipline... KOSHISH is the dream of LAKSHYA. Understanding the importance of combination of education and play, a safe environment for the children and a place where they share their dreams and visions, LAKSHYA started the centre of KOSHISH in Purnia. KOSHISH is a unique learning centre where, children learn, play and share their thoughts. We believe in All work and no play make Jack a dull boy, so, there is no fixed time for studying, and they study when they want. It's a unique platform for the children where they study with the help of activities and games. The aim behind starting the centre was to eliminate the gap between the children of Sex Workers and education; and to stop the second generation of the community to enter into the trade. As the community thrives on the occupation of Sex Work, they bring their own daughter in the profession and the son is also brought into it by being a middleman. We vision that no child is forcefully brought into the Sex Work. They learn, they gain knowledge and after that decide for themselves what they want to do in future after attaining adulthood i.e. after the age of 18 years.
We thought today would be like every other day, but it was not so... when I reached school, we were told by our teachers that an awareness meeting was going to be held by LAKSHYA on the topic of Female Foeticide. Studying in class 10th, though I knew the meaning of the word but never understood the problem/issue in depth. LAKSHYA intervened in our daily lives and told us about the issue of Female Foeticide and its ill effects on various stakeholders. Before the program I didn't know that the girl foetuses are killed at such a big level in the country, especially in a developing state like Bihar. I came to know how, after ultrasound, the detection of girl foetuses is done and they are killed before being born. I took the pledge that I won't indulge in such practices and will neither let my family indulge in the same. There is one question which arose in my mind for the people who practice such activities - "Tum beti ko bete ke khwaish mein maar rahe ho, Lekin Agar beti ko maroge, toh bahu kahan se laoge???" (You are killing girl child in the lure of the boy child, but that boy will when grows up will need a girl to marry with).
