The Story Behind Lakshya Paathshala
Our story is one of empathy and action. When we first visited one of the largest slums in town, we discovered that the children there faced language barriers and were unable to fully comprehend their lessons. It was on that day we realized that education for these kids is not just about books but the people and emotions behind it.

Nilu Rai’s Journey
Lakshya Paathshala’s story is not just about education; it is about compassion, resilience, and a vision for a better future for every child. Founded by Nilu Rai, the journey began with a deep sense of responsibility to uplift the lives of children in the most deprived areas of Modinagar and Meerut.
The Beginning
In 2010, I came to Modinagar from Patna to pursue my B.Tech from SRM University. Little did I know that my life would change when I noticed a slum adjacent to my hostel. The children there, engaged in rag picking and living in deplorable conditions, moved me deeply. I knew I had to do something. The first step was asking one of the adults if I could teach their children.
Overcoming Barriers
Our mission is to ensure that every child in Modinagar and Muradnagar receives the education they deserve, enabling them to break free from cycles of poverty and disadvantage.
I didn’t just teach them; I became their hope.
The Turning Point
After my graduation, I continued visiting Modinagar on weekends, and in 2015, Lakshya Trust approached me with an opportunity to work together. It was then that we set the wheels in motion for what would become Lakshya Paathshala.

Early Days
We started with just 17 children in a small room, a humble beginning but with enormous dreams. The kids, initially unaccustomed to sitting still or focusing, slowly began showing progress. It was a long and challenging journey, but the seeds of change were planted.
Growth and Expansion
With the support of volunteers, passionate teachers, and generous donors, our program grew rapidly. From 17 children, we now serve over 350 kids in a two-story building with eight classrooms, a library, and activity halls.
Community and Educational Support
It’s not just about providing education; it’s about creating a supportive community for these children. We’ve seen remarkable transformation in their lives — they are no longer rag pickers but children with a bright future ahead.

Our Impact So Far
Since inception, Lakshya Paathshala has empowered over 350 children in Modinagar and Muradnagar, enabling them to attend school and break the cycle of poverty.
350+ Children Enrolled
As of January 2023, over 350 children are registered, with 180 enrolled in 13 public schools in Modinagar and Meerut.
50+ Partner Schools
Partner schools waive tuition fees for our students, while we provide uniforms, books, stationery, and homework assistance.
